Mary "Geneva" Mitchell was the second wife of James Dock Adams who predeceased her. Survived locally by one step-son, James Emerson Adams, or better known as "Jimmy" or "Sonny", plus his wife Janet and their two adopted sons, Tim and Steve Adams residing in Loves Park, Illinois.

She was the daughter of Otis and Audi Mitchell. This information was given to the funeral home when my Uncle Jim died. No other information is known about her.

Geneva, as she was known to us, had a very severe speech impediment, and could not pronounce even one word. She only made sounds and used her hands. She was a very quiet person. It is thought she was born in either Arkansas or Missouri. She was probably born around 1900 as she appeared to be that age. Sad to say, she and my Uncle Jim were alcoholics and lived in an undesirable part of the city. The family lost touch with her after the death of her husband, and no one could find out what happened to her.

The above is written by Judith, grand niece of James Dock Adams who was the husband of Mary Geneva Mitchell Adams.

I can be reached at [email protected] if anyone has additional information or questions.
