Davenport Democrat, "OBITUARIES," Davenport, Scott, Iowa, 20 Oct 1932: James N. Hinton, 1305 East Lombard street, cement contractor and resident of Davenport for 22 years, died at 11:30 PM, Wednesday at his home after a short illness. He would have been 62 years old Saturday.
Mr. Hinton was born in Schuyler county, Missouri, Oct 22, 1870 and was married 43 years ago at Queen City, Mo. to Evelyn Newcomb who survives. On his coming to Davenport he became affiliated with the First Christian Church.
Surviving besides the widow are three sons, Basil, Bryan and James Hinton, and three daughters, Mrs. George Margulles, Mrs. Ruby DeLappe, and Mrs. Bessie Merrifield, all of Davenport, his father, John Hinton, of Lyons, Kansas, two sisters Mrs. Bertha Wulf and Mrs. Ethel Madkins and a brother, Claude Hinton all of Davenport.
The body was taken to the Horrigan Home for Funerals. Arrangements for final rites will be announced.

F. Martin officiating. Interment was at Oakdale cemetery. Pallbearers were James Hinton, Jr., Bryan Hinton, William DeLapp, William H. Haremett, John F. Hamm and Harry Madkins.
