Martha "Penny" Butts, 60, Minot, ND, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, CO.
Martha "Penny" Muus was born on August 28, 1951, a daughter of Magner and Margaret (Pfeffer) Muus in Minot, ND. Penny was the third of six children being raised in Minot. Penny was baptized and confirmed at St. Leo's Church where she was a member. Penny attended and graduated from St. Leo's School, Bishop Ryan High School, Gonzaga University and Minot State University.
After college Penny enjoyed working for the Girl Scouts and then began a fulfilling teaching career which spanned over 25 years, teaching at Little Flower, Longfellow Elementary and Jim Hill Middle School, retiring in 2008. Penny also coached swimming along with her other teaching duties.
Penny was previously married to James Twomey and two daughters were born from this marriage.
On October 26, 1991, Penny was united in marriage to Richard Butts in Minot. They were happy to have recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary. Penny loved to spend time with her family and friends. Penny loved Rice Lake and she fondly referred to it as the "Best Place on Earth." Penny had a friend in her dog Buffy.

Penny was preceded in death by her father Magner Muus.
