William Cleveland (Carl) Alley, Jr., 63, of 220 Darst Avenue, Dublin, died Tuesday morning in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Salem, Virginia.
Born March 13, 1927 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late William Cleveland Alley, Sr. and Etta Irene Burchett Alley Smith.
He was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church, and a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.
He was a retired employee of the Norfolk and Western Railroad with 23 years of service and a retired building Contractor.
He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Cleveland Alley.
Surviving are his wife, Lummie (Peggy) Bowman Alley; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Beverly) Douglas, Dublin; two sons, Curtis Anthony Alley, Sr. Pulaski, Timothy Wayne Alley, Dublin; five grandsons, two sisters, Mrs. Garnett (Louise) Hamilton, Nashville, Tenn.; Mrs. Curtis (Carnella) Hopkins, Graham Forge; one brother, William Tidas Alley, Erving, Texas
Funeral services will be held Thursday 3 pm from the Dublin United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry J. Ousley, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park, Radford. Visiting will be anytime today and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel East Main St Dublin. Mr. Alley will be placed in the church Thursday 1:30 p.m. to lie instate until the hour of service. Bower Funeral Chapel, Dublin is handling the arrangements.
