Funeral services for Alma Grace Bergman, 77, of Arthur were at 6 p.m. last Sunday in the Evangelical Free Church in Arthur. She died Friday 28 May 1993 at the Storm Lake hospital. The Rev. Robert Lundberg officiated with burial in the Hayes Township Cemetery south of Arthur.

Mrs. Bergman was born 6 March 1916 at Montrose, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Orlin and Edith (Warner) Devine. They moved to Ida Grove when she was 2 years old. They lived on farms near Ida Grove, Battle Creek and Arthur. Her father farmed until he retired and moved to Ida Grove. She lived in the area most of her life except for short periods in California and Texas.

She married Donald Bergman 1 Oct 1940 in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly after that the couple moved to California where they lived for five years before returning to Iowa. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include: her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Sterling (LaDonna) Nelson of Des Moines, Mrs. Charles (Karen) Ellcey and Mrs. Dan (Lori) Thompson both of Mesquite, Texas; two sons, Ron, and Barry of Arthur; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ted (Zilpha) Olson of Ponda Gorda, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold Devine; and four sisters, Florence and Helen Van Houten and Luella and Doris Devine.
