DAVENPORT — Marilyn E. Sparbel, 86, of Davenport, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Silvercrest Garner Farms in Davenport.
Burial in Davenport Memorial Park.
Marilyn was born in 1925 in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Alvin and Alberta Schulze. She was united in marriage to Charles Sparbel on October 22, 1948, in Rock Island, Illinois. Marilyn retired in 1987 from Red Jacket Pumps. She had been a member of the PTA at Hayes School and the Quad-City Baseball Fans Association. She enjoyed baseball, ceramics, flower gardening, traveling to Minnesota, and feeding the birds and squirrels. Marilyn was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed attending QC Mallard hockey games. She especially loved shopping, the holidays, and doting on her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; sons, James (Kathy) and Larry, both of Davenport; a sister, Doris Nelson of Moline, granddaughters, Kristin of Davenport and Theresa (Philipp) Sparbel Schuetzl of Vienna, Austria; and numerous other family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ralph Korth of Bettendorf, infant sister, Elda Mae, and grandson, Johnathan.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff for the considerate and loving care they provided to Marilyn during her time at Silvercrest Garner Farms.
