She was born on January 9, 1922 in Pittsylvania County, VA, to the late Charlie Gregory and Mary Harvey Gregory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Carlton Gregory (1919-1999) and Alvin Gregory (1918-1998).
Mrs. Finney was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Martinsville, VA.
She previously worked as a seamstress for Sidney's Dress Shop in Martinsville, VA in the 1960's. Her joy was sewing for her family and friends, as well as, cooking for them.
Surviving are her husband, Lester C. Finney of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Helen Marie Carson and Gilbert Carson of Midlothian, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Carlton Douglas Finney and Sandra Finney of Manassas, VA; sister, Stella Gregory McCubbins of Callands, VA; three grandchildren, Jason Gregory Carson and wife, Nellene Carson, Erin Elizabeth Finney and Shannon Lee Finney Hrabe and husband, Ray Hrabe; three step-grandchildren, Gilbert Carson, Jr. and wife, Dawn Carson, John D. Carson and wife, Anna Carson and Peggy Carson King and husband, Keitt King; three great-grandchildren, Jaellene Carson, Jason Gregory Carson, Jr. and William Ryder Hrabe; and eight step-grandchildren, Ryan Marie Carson, Gilbert Carson, III (Mac), Sadie Carson, John David Carson, Jr. (Jack), Samuel Carson, Carson King, Keitt King and Katherine King.
The funeral service was held at 2pm on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel, with Rev. Ron Mateer, Rev Sarah Whitmore and Chaplain Paul Johnson officiating. Burial at Roselawn Burial Park.
The family received friends on Saturday evening, October 9, 2010, from 6pm to 8pm, at Norris Funeral Services.
Friends were invited to a reception after the service at King's Grant.
