U.S. Congressman. He moved to Georgia, graduated from Franklin College, then from Yale College in 1837, from the Dane Law School of Harvard University in 1839, was admitted to the bar at Boston in 1839 and commenced to practice law in Talbotton, Georgia, in 1840. He was a member of the Georgia State House of Representatives (1843-47), clerk of the Georgia State House of Representatives in 1848 and delegate to the Whig National Convention in 1848. in 1849, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-first Congress, serving until 1851. He also was a consul at Habana, Cuba, in 1851. After his term, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 48 while on a visit with relatives. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
