Mr. Knighton was born March 4, 1897, in Spartanburg County, a son of the late Green Lee and Eva (LeMaster) Knighton. Before his retirement, he was employed with Steel Heddle Manufacturing Company and was a charter member of Simpsonville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Knighton was survived by two sons: Lawrence Knighton and Russell Knighton, both of Simpsonville, SC; one daughter: Blanche (Knighton) Padgett of Simpsonville, SC; three grandchildren: Larry Knighton, Barry Parris, and Jeanie Knighton; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Zelon (Knighton) Fowler and one brother, Paul Knighton both of Simpsonville, SC.
Funeral services, at the Simpsonville United Methodist Church, were conducted by the Reverend V. Ray Robinson. Pall bearers were Craig Brittain, Bill Matthews, Gene Mariar, Lynn Fowler, Pat Long, and David Goodwin. Honorary escort were church members, neighbors, and friends. The family was at the home of son, Russell Knighton, of Simpsonville, SC. Burial was in the Simpsonville City Cemetery.
