Sophia was born in Rosenfeld, Samara, Russia to the late Henry and Maria Weber. She immigrated to Sheboygan in 1913. Sophia and Casper Eckhardt were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan on 16 OCT 1915. Sophie and Casper owned and operated the "Snack Shack" restaurant at 1324 Michigan Ave. The Snack Shack opened approx 1940, Casper died in '46 and Sophie continued the business with her two oldest boys until the mid-fifties. In 1947, Sophie married Henry Stoehr of Kohler. He passed away in 1967. On the evening of Wednesday, 28 May 1969, Sophia and her cousin Sophie Horness were struck by a hit and run driver while crossing Superior Ave at the 1200 block. Mrs. Horness died within two hours after the incident while Mrs. Stoehr lingered in critical condition at St. Nicholas Hospital finally scumming late Saturday afternoon. Sophia was a member of the Ebenezer United Church of Christ and the Volga Aid Society of which she was the secretary. A daughter and two brothers preceded her in death.
