John came to the Red River Valley in June 1878 with his parents and siblings. They lived and farmed on their homestead in what would become Mary Township, Norman County, MN, Section 30.
John was a well-known farmer and livestock producer. He married Anna Bertine Ulvan 5 Aug 1905 at the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, rural Hendrum, MN.
John passed away 5 Oct 1941 at his home in Mary Township. He was 76 at the time of his death. Funeral services for him were held at the Bethania Lutheran Church, rural Perley 9 Oct 1941. Pastor Thomas Anderson officiated at this service.
