Funeral service for Syphrona O. Ward, who died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Sixma Seniors ALF in Deltona under the loving care of Diane Hof, will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ward, the oldest of eight children, was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Blythewood, S.C., to William H. and Leila Abell. She was a long-standing member of the Ladies Sodality Association at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, Brighton, Mass. She retired as a buyer from Gilchrest's Department Store, Boston, Mass. She moved to Deltona in August of 1967 and worked in the healthcare industry in Volusia County. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Deltona.

Mrs. Ward was predeceased by husband, John F. Ward, and brother, Albert Abell.
