CARENCRO - Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Bantin, the former Lydia Athalie Sandoz, 82, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel here with burial in St. Landry Mausoleum in Opelousas.

Mrs. Bantin, a native of Opelousas for most of her life, having lived in Carencro since 1998, died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001, in Doctors' Hospital in Opelousas. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro. Mrs. Bantin had been a member of the Legion of Mary at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas.

Survivors include: her husband, Carl Bantin of Carencro; a son, Karl Bantin of Opelousas; three daughters, Julianne Curry and her husband John of Newport News, Va., Mary Hebert and her husband Michael of Austin, Texas, and Jackie Robin and her husband Joe of Carencro; 16 grandchildren, Beau Mullins, Christal Robin, Angel Robin, Carl Robin, Patrick Eppler, Fritz Eppler and Franz Eppler, Silke Bantin, Erich Bantin, Kim Curry, Julie Couriere, John Curry, Chris Curry and Jennifer Curry, Catherine Hebert and Elizabeth Hebert; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Marshall Sandoz and his wife Juliette of Ventress; and two sisters, Estelle S. Dunnaway and Mildred "Coz" S. Briggs, both of Opelousas.

Mrs. Bantin was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Sandoz and the former Lydia Stagg; three brothers, Fred Sandoz, Owen Sandoz and Reynolds Sandoz; and a sister, Sybil S. Zander.
