Sylvia Bushnell was born 13 Mar 1892 in Lisbon, IL, daughter of James and Elizabeth (Burgess) Bushnell. She worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company as the evening chief operator and married William F. Thompson in 1924. Will was a engineer/scientist at AT&T; they lived in the Austin neighborhood in Chicago for many years.
Sylvia was very active in the Austin North End Woman's club, holding the office of Program Chairman. They had no children. Some years after Sylvia was widowed she went to live with her sister Nellie so she could care for her in her old age at the Bushnell family home at 614 Grand Avenue in Aurora. She lived an extremely long, healthy and peaceful life. After her sister passed away, she lived alone for many years and then lived with her niece Virginia Moran and her husband Richard and her Nephew James Parkhurst and his wife Jessie for some years until she was too old to care for herself, she lived the last few years of her life at the Tiller Nursing Home in Oswego and at Jennings Terrace in Aurora. Sylvia passed away at the age of 98, at Jennings Terrace on March 16, 1892, and was buried after grave side services officiated by Rev. Dan Hoy at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL.
