~0bit~William Ossman, passed away Tuesday evening about 10 o'clock at his home of his daughter, Mrs. Truman Schackeford, after many weeks of suffering. He has been a resident of this community the greater part of his life and
his memory will be cherished by a host of relatives and friends in this community. Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Sorensen Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Smith of Clarence, Iowa officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in Walker Cemetery. The pall bearers, which were chosen by the deceased were his two grandsons, Everett and Wayne Cahill; two nephews, Mr. Moses Mette and Mr. Charles McPike. Special music was furnished by Mrs. G. C. Murphy, Mrs. Cal Graves and Leland Berry, who sang "Rock Of Ages" and "Nearer My God To Thee", Mrs. Donald (Lois) McKee at the piano. The following obituary was read at the service: William Henry Ossman was born to Israel and Catherine Ossman October 11, 1859 at Germantown, Pennsylvania, and departed this life October 12, 1937, at the age of 78 years and one day. At the age of eleven he came to Iowa with his parents who settled at Independece, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. On February 26, 1884 he was united in marriage to Carrie Elicke who passed away May 21, 1918. To this union were born two daughters, Mae Cahill and Etta Schackleford, both of Walker.
On May 12, 1920, her obit says May 20, 1920) he was united in marriage to Ethel Lamb at Baker, Montana, who passed away December 10, 1929. Besides his children, he leaves to mourn, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild also the following brothers and sisters: Elias of Panora, Iowa, Anna Kitch of Hawkeye, Iowa, Emma Jacobs of Arkansas City, and Daniel Ossman of Walker, also many other relatives and a host of friends.
