P.R.R. SHOP CLERK EXPIRES SUDDENLY

Samuel B. Caraher, aged 67, of 1308 Third avenue, well known shop clerk in the Altoona works, died suddenly of a heart attack while seated at his desk in the Juniata E. & M. shop at 7.10 o'clock this morning. He had not previously been ill.

Mr. Caraher for many years was clerk in the No. 3 erecting shop at Twelfth street, but was transferred to Juniata with the changeover of the Twelfth street shops to car shops. He had reported for work as usual this morning in Juniata and was stricken while sitting at his desk.

He was born in Tyrone on Aug. 26, 1873, a son of Alfred and Elizabeth Jane (Shannon) Caraher, but had resided in Altoona for the past thirty-four years. He had been an employe of the Pennsylvania railroad for the past thirty-five years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace C. Caraher, and one daughter, Ruth K., at home; two sons, William F., of Richmond, Va., and Samuel Jack Caraher, of Louisville, Ky., and one grandson, W. Fred Caraher.

Mr. Caraher was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist church and of the Frohsinn society. Friends may call at the Lafferty funeral home from Wednesday noon until 10 o'clock Friday morning.

Mr. Caraher was active in sports promotion for many years and was president of the Machine Shop Athletic association for some time. He likewise directed the baseball team of the shops. He headed the Belmar pinochle team in the Blair league for several years.
