Jane [White] Coggin, is the daughter of William & Elizabeth [Boatman] White, of Union County South Carolina.

Jane was the grand daughter of Robert Sr & Mildred "Milly" [Whitehead] White, both of Union County.

She married Johnson Coggin, about 1823, judging from the first born child, James. The marriage would have been in Union County SC, as Johnson, was buying and selling land in this county, with his father in law, William White.

Johnson last sold land in Union Co SC, 1831, Jane also released dower on that deed.

His first purchase of land in Spartanburg was on Jan 28, 1833. I would guess, they moved from Union to Spartanburg between 1832 and 1833. However, Johnson Coggin was received at the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, on April 22, 1832 (P.48 of the Minutes), in Spartanburg.

He and Jane were members of the Lower Fairforest Baptist Church while living in Union County. Then became members of the Cedar Springs Church. They were both very active in the affairs of this church. Jane had numerous, Aunts, Uncles, and first cousins, at this church. Her mother and siblings also moved to Spartanburg Co SC.

They had the following known children:

1. James Robert Coggin m. Rosanna Henley
2. Elijah H Coggin m. Margaret L McDowell
