Businessman. He was the founder of Broadway Department Stores and Bullock's. He was responsible for developing a great deal of Hollywood. He also purchased and developed Westwood, Holmby Hills and the UCLA campus. This was done through the Janss Development Co. Harold Janss was Mr. Letts son in law. Harold and his brother Edwin developed quite a bit of Los Angeles from the turn of the century into the 1960's. Areas from Hancock Park to Thousand Oaks.
His son, Arthur Letts, Jr. built the Playboy Mansion.
