2011 Oct 21 - Cadillac - Jack William Christensen was born Tuesday 11 Sep 1923 in Cadillac to William Johann & Josephine Mae (Marvin) Christensen. He lived all his life in Cadillac. He married Helen Nelson Monday 18 Feb 1946 in Cadillac. Jack loved music, in his younger days he loved to sing and play guitar. He was an avid reader and was known for his gentle ways and sense of humor. His children and grandchildren loved to hear his stories about his adventures with Davy Crockett. Most all Jack loved his family. Jack worked at Kenwood Park through the NYA from age 16 until he was drafted at age 18. He then served three years in World War II. When he returned home he worked in the foundries until 1968. Following that he worked at Mercy Hospital in housekeeping until his retirement in 1985.


Jack William Christensen died Friday 21 Oct 2011 at the age of 88 y 1 m 10 d peacefully at home with his loving family at his side. Survivors included his wife; 1 daughter; 1 adopted son; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson and namesake; 1 brother; and 1 brother-in-law. He was preceded in death by 1 infant granddaughter, Jill Christensen, his parents, William 2 Jun 1965 & Josephine 8 Oct 1994; 1 sister, Fern Rudolph 18 Dec 2010, his mother and father-in-law, Louie 27 Mar 1971 & Delcie21 Jun 1987 .


Visitation was 6-8 pm Monday 24 Oct 2011 at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. Funeral services were at 11 am Tuesday 25 Oct 2011 at Peterson Funeral Home with Chaplain Ed Gilbert officiating.


Burial was in Cherry Grove Township Cemetery in Cadillac.
