MRS. MABEL JOHNSON, 54, DIES AT HER HOME HERE
Mrs. Mabel Johnson, wife of Edward Johnson, died at her home here Friday, September 2, after an illness of several weeks. She was not quite 55 years of age.
A resident of LaGrange for a large part of her life, Mrs. Johnson was esteemed by those who knew her as one of the town's finest characters. A woman of refinement, education, and culture, capable and responsive, she occupied a useful place in the religious and social life of the community and her passing is keenly regretted.
The funeral service was conducted at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon by Rev. W.K. Moore, assisted by Rev. N.A. Pritchard. Miss Helen Day sang the hymns, with accompaniment by Mrs. W.J. McPike. Burial was in River View Cemetery, the pallbearers being E.V. Childers, Leslie Edwards, David Johnson, Dorsey Mitchell, R.H. Painter, C.N. Thomas.
Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of John G. and Winfree Ellery Farmer and was born in LaGrange October 27, 1883. She had been a member of the Baptist church since girlhood. She was graduated from LaGrange College in the class of 1903. She was married June 14, 1905, to Edward Johnson of this city, who survives her.

O'Neal of Palmyra, John O'Neal of Schenectady, N.Y., Miss Louise Johnson of St. Louis, Miss Marjorie MacLachlan of Kahoka, Mrs. Mary Hagood of Jackson, Miss., Atty. and Mrs. Barker Davis and Miss Bessie Durrett of Canton.
