OBITUARY of John H. Findley from the Brownstown Banner June 15, 1904
Young Man Suicides.
John Findley, son of Catherine Findley, of Spraytown, committed suicide last Thurday night about midnight, by taking carbolic acid, which he had purchased in Brownstown. The youn man was weak minded. It is said that he wanted to get a license to marry which caused him to take his life. It is also said that he had made known his intentions to end his life, but his mother supposed she had talked him out of the idea. He died within about twenty minutes after taking the poison. His father died about fifteen years ago leaving him some property which, owing to his demented condition was in charge of his guardian, Frank Branaman. The funeral services were held at Surpise Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, after which the remains were brought to Brownstown and interred in Fairview cemetery.
