Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery Wednesday at 2 p.m. for Taft resident Sampson Awbrey, 88. The Rev. Sam White, pastor of the Cuyama Assembly of God, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Awbrey was born in Missouri June 5, 1905 and passed away Saturday in Taft.
He was employed as a carpenter for over 50 years and moved to Taft in 1973. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Sammy Awbrey, in October 1979. His survivors include his wife, a daughter, three step-children, a sister, and 11 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. and again Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to pay their respects.
