Page 5, Column 5:

Mrs. Sarah M. Woodard entered into rest at her home, No. 122 Mary street, at 5 o'clock this morning. She had been ill two weeks from a stroke of paralysis, prior to which time her health had been good. Mrs. Woodard was born March 4, 1810, in Pompey, Onondaga County, and was a daughter of the late Elisha and Altana Cadwell. When thirteen years of age she removed to this city with her father, and has since resided here, making her home most of the time at No. 122 Mary street. September 6, 1836, she married Salmon Woodard, of Utica. Mrs. Woodard had been a faithful Christian lady, and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church many years. She first became a member of the Bleecker Street Church, of which her father was a deacon, and afterward a member of the Seneca Street Church, which was destroyed by fire. She was identified with the Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian Church until her death. She was a lady of quiet, pleasant manner and won and retained many warm friendships. She had watched the growth of the city of Utica from her childhood when the present city was a village, and the memory of early events remained dear to her. She found much delight in speaking of Utica's early history, and her reminiscences were always full of interest. She is survived by two sons, Edward M., of Southbridge, Mass., and George E., of this city; also one daughter, Miss Carolina Woodard, of Utica.
