Marian (Bohnsack) Davis, 90, of Scales Mound, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Scales Mound. Burial will be in the Scales Mound Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Scales Mound, where the parish rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
Marian was born on April 24, 1921, in Schapville, daughter of Leo and Minnie (Deininger) Bohnsack. She graduated from Scales Mound High School in 1940.
She married Stanley "Spud" Davis on Aug. 1, 1941; he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2005.
Marian loved to farm, garden, cook and bake. She enjoyed creating ceramic pieces for family and friends. Marian was an avid card player, belonging to the community euchre and 500 clubs.
For 18 years, she drove the bus for the Scales Mound School District, and in later years, she always was delighted when students remembered her as their school bus driver.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Vernon and Norman Bohnsack; sisters-in-law, Ann and Robbie Bohnsack; a brother-in-law, Jacob Brenner; a son-in-law, Robert Steichen; nephews, Bob and Randy Bohnsack; and nieces, B'Ann Bohnsack and Sherry Oldenburg.
