Bettie Dicie Blakley, 89, died at Senior Care Center on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Emmett Corker presiding. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.

Bettie was born April 1, 1922, south of Brady, Texas, and lived there for 27 years. She moved to San Angelo, Texas, in 1956, working for different dry cleaners and helped open both Beall's stores. Bettie retired from work in 1997. She later moved to Christian Village where she resided for 14 years.

Bettie was preceded in death by her father, Lowery Austin Blakley; her mother, Clara J. Gilliland Blakley; three sisters, Clara Ola Blakley, Nina March Blakley Smith, Grace Christiane Blakley Bozeman; one brother, Robert Lowery Blakley; and nephew Lowery Marvin Smith. She is survived by one niece, Dorothy Smith Chambers and her husband, James; and close friends and caregivers, Bobby and Marie Goodwin. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.
