She was a graduate of Cooley High School in Detroit, and had worked at General Motors, Lorain National Bank and Premier Bank, which later became FirstMerit Bank. She had worked in the trust department and was in charge of the Advantage 50 Club. Since retiring in 1998, she enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, genealogy and collecting Cats Meow items.

She was a member of Elyria Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1079, Ladies of Martha Pitkin Chapter NSDAR, the Red Hat Society, a stitch club and was a wing rider at air shows at Wakeman Airport during the 1960s.
