Sudden Death Of Mrs. Maria Groome Knight.
Mrs. Maria Groome Knight died suddenly at her home, 2131 Maryland avenue, Baltimore, early Friday morning, following an attack of apoplexy while attending a wedding at St. Michael and all Angels' Church, St. Paul and Twentieth streets, Thursday night.
At the conclusion of the wedding ceremony, and as the guests were leaving the church, Mrs. Knight was stricken suddenly. She was placed in one of the carriages in attendance at the wedding and hurried to her home. Every effort was made to save her life, but she grew steadily worse and died at 3:45 o'clock, without having regained consciousness.
Mrs. Knight was born in 1842 at Elkton, Md. She was a daughter of Col. John C. Groome and a sister of the late Gov. James B. Groome. She was the widow of William M. Knight, of Cecil county, who was deputy collector of Baltimore in 1886, after which he was as sociated with the firm of Frame, Knight & Co., where he remained until the time of his death. which occurred two years ago.
Mrs. Knight is survived by one son, James Groome Knight of Baltimore, four daughters, Misses Elizabeth B., Ethel and Rebecca Ringgold Knight, Baltimore, and Mrs. Lyndon S. Tracy, of Syracuse, N. Y., and one sister Mrs. John J. Black, of Newcastle, Del.
The body was brought to Elkton for burial in the family lot.
