Rev. William Senter Weir

Once more the death angel has claimed a life, one who for over fifty years served his Master in the ministry, leading an upright and righteous life, and who has through his work led many lives to Christ.

Rev. William S. Weir was born March 19, 1848, in St. Clair county, Missouri, and passed away January 11, 1930, at the age of eighty-one years, nine months and twenty-two days.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Anne McCurley in 1866. She preceded him in death January 4, 1925. To this union eight children were given, six girls and two boys. Only five survive. They are; Mrs. Cynthia Woods of Wenatchee, Washington; Mrs. Ellen Allen of Cashmere, Washington; Mrs. Hattie Stone of Kennewick, Washington; George Weir of Milton, Oregon, and Thomas Weir of Osceola, Missouri.

In expressing words on Bro. Weir's work we are sure One, the Master, knows. At the age of sixteen years he united with the Baptist church and in the year of 1875, was ordained to the same faith at Good Hope, Missouri, having a record of fifty-five years of service for his Master in his home state. Also the distinction of serving one church, for twenty years, that of Adrain, Missouri.

Bro. Weir was untiring in his efforts, he always was ready to testify to the work even though in declining age. His friends are all who knew him and they are many. As long as his children survive, father's life and death will be a memory never to be forgotten, and cherished for the clean and consistent Christian faith that never grew tiresome. Until the last he spoke of his loved ones at home, his pilgrimages through sunshine and rain.

In 1927 he fell, breaking his hip, and never fully recovered from the effects of the accident.

In June, 1928, he became able to go to his daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Woods in Wenatchee, Washington, with whom he made his home during the last days, and from August, 1929, remained helpless to the end.

Mrs. Woods accompanied the body back to his old home state, adn the last sad rites were held on January 17, by Bro, Brammer at Adrain, Missouri, after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in Cresent cemetery.

The many friends of the bereaved ones extend their heartfelt sympathy in the sad hour.
