Funeral services for Clarence LeRoy
(Roy) Luce, 52, will be held at 1:30
p.m. Friday at Faith United Church
of Christ.
Mr Luce, a vice president of Kent
Feeds, Inc., and Grain Processing
Corporation, died suddenly Wednesday
at the University hospital at Iowa
The body is now at the Fairbanks-
Lamb chapel, where friends may call.
The body will be taken to the church
at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be at
Memorial Park cemetery.
Mr. Luce, a 23-year veteran of the
feed and grain industry, had served
as Kent Feeds director of advertis-
ing, assistant sales manager, Iowa
district sales manager, and direc-
tor of sales training. He was
elected as vice president, public
relations and education, of the
Kent and GPC companies in 1968.
He was born March 18, 1921, at
McGregor, the son of Walter G. and
Ruth Werges Luce. He was married
in Myra Zieman, Aug. 28, 1946, at
Royal, Ia.
Mr. Luce graduated from State Uni-
versity of Iowa with both bach-
elor's and master's degrees in
radio and journalism. He served as
sports editor of the Daily lowan
and the Iowa City Press Citizen,
as night news director of KGNC
Radio, Amarillo, Texas, and news
director of KWPC Radio, Muscatine,
prior to joining Kent Feeds in
Active in national efforts of the
livestock feed industry, Luce
served as public relations chairman
of the American Feed Manufacturers
Association, a member of the Iowa
Grain and Feed Association, American
Society of Training Directors, the
Iowa Manufacturers' Association, and
an accredited member of the Public
Relations Society of America. He had
recently been elected to serve on the
board of directors of the National
Agricultural Communications Board.
Mr. Luce was also active in local
civic and church affairs, having
served as treasurer and director of
the Muscatine Chamber of Commerce,
chairman of the local high school's
Distributive Education Advisory
Committee, past president of the
Muscatine club and the Faith
United Church of Christ board.
Mr. Luce is survived by the widow,
Mrs. Myra Luce, and four children,
Mrs. Bruce (Linda) Johnston of
Palatine, Ill., and Marci, Mark
and Traci, at home. He also is
survived by his mother, Mrs. Wal-
ter Luce, and a sister, Mrs. Har-
vey Elmore, Farmersville, Ill.
