Charles Beebe and Lucy Hamlin were married in the early 1800's, probably around 1808/09 and probably in Connecticut. In the 1820's, they are known to have been residing in Hamden County, Massachusetts. About 1837/38, the Beebes came west to Illinois, where they settled in Peoria County, around the area of Northampton, Illinois. They, however, can not be identified in the 1840 census.
Charles and Lucy are believed to be the parents of at least six children. There were probably more. They are believed to include;
1. Henry C. Beebe, born c. 1810/11 in Connecticut. Henry C. Beebe was 1st married to Dyanthia Livermore on September 15, 1836 in Peoria County, Illinois. One child may have been born to Henry and Dyanthia;
A. William J. Beebe, born c. 1837/38 in Illinois. William Beebe was married to Mary L. Davenport on April 8, 1863 in Peoria County, Illinois.

Henry C. Beebee was then married 2nd to Sarah Cannon on August 9, 1838 in Peoria County, Illinois. A number of children were born to Henry and Sarah, including;
B. Richard Beebe, born c. 1839/40 in Illinois.

C. Lucy A. Beebe, born c. 1842/43 in Illinois. Lucy A. Beebey was married to John B. Selders on August 22, 1862, just before John B. Selders, would leave for the war as a member of the 86th Illinois. John served in the same company as Lucy's uncle, Ruben B. Beebe.

D. Alonzo Beebe, born c. 1845/46 in Illinois.

E. Jane Beebe, born c. 1847/48 in Illinois.

F. Adiron/Adison/Addison Beebe, born c. Feb/Mar of 1850 in Peoria County, Illinois. Adison Beebe was married to Josephine Bell on January 31, 1872 in Peoria County, Illinois.

G. Alice Beebe, born c. 1853/54 in Peoria County, Illinois.

H. Lavina A. Beebe, born c. 1857/58 in Peoria County, Illinois. Lovina A. Beebe was married to James R. Cannon on December 28, 1874 in Peoria County, Illinois.

At the time of the 1850 census, Henry and his family are found in Peoria County, Illinois;

2. Abigail Amelia Beebe, born c. 1814/15 in Connecticut. Abigail Amelia Beebe was married to Alexander Cooper on August 25, 1835 in Peoria County, Illinois. Alexander Cooper was born c. 1811/12 in Kentucky.
At least three children were born to Amelia and Alexander, including;
A. Anna Cooper, born c. 1836 in Illinois.

B. Mary Cooper, born c. 1837 in Illinois.

C. Alexander Cooper Jr., born c. 1847/48 in Illinois.

At the time of the 1850 census of Peoria County, Lucy (Hamlin) Beebe is found residing with her daughter and son-in-law, Alex & Amelia Cooper in the City of Peoria;

3. Lucinda Beebe, born c. 1818 in Tolland County, Connecticut. Lucinda was married 1st to Isaac Davidson McCumsey on 21 Sep 1837 in Tazewell County, Illinois. Isaac was b. abt. 1812 in Ohio, died after having bought land in Lee Co., (papers at Dixon, IL. Signed by John Taylor Jr. for President John Taylor 19 Dec. 1844.)
Two daughters;
A. Alice Ione McCumsey 1839-1923

B. Amelia Ann McCumsey 1843-1916. Amelia buried with William Weed Heaton Lot 67.

Lucinda was then married 2nd to William Weed Heaton (1814 - 1877). Lucinda and William had children;

C. Charles W Heaton (1853 - 1853)

D. Virginia Heaton (1855 - 1935)

Lucinda (Beebe) Heaton died on 20 Feb. 1935 in Dixon, Lee County, Illinois. Her mortal remains were laid in the Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon, Lee County, Illinois. See her Find A Grave Memorial# 127165447.

4. Charles Beebe Jr., born c. 1818/19 in Connecticut., but more likely in Massachusetts. Charles Beebe Jr. was married to Catherine E. Miner on December 5, 1844. It appears that they may have moved shortly after afterward to New York State. However, if they did, it appears that in the summer of 1850, they returned to Illinois just in thime for the 1850 census, as Charles and his family are found in Peoria County, Illinois;

5. John Beebe, born c. 1821/22 in Connecticut or Massachusetts.

6. Ruben B. Beebe, born April 22, 1823/24 in Springfield, Hamden County, Massachusetts. Ruben served in Co. C of the 86th Illinois during the Civil War. See his Find A Grave Memorial for more information about him and his family.

7. Eunice Cornelia Beebe, born c. 1826/27 in Connecticut or Massachusetts. Eunice Cornelia Beebe was married to Alden Wilkey on June 14, 1846 in Peoria County, Illinois. Their children include;
A. Alden Charles Wilkey Jr., born May 22, 1848 in Peoria County, Illinois. Alden Jr. was a blacksmith and mechanic. Alden was married to Mary Almira "Mida" Moffitt on December 6, 1874 in Peoria County, Illinois.
At the time of the 1880 census, Alden and his family are found in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois, where he is a Blacksmith;

8. Frances Beebe, born c. 1833/34 in Massachusetts; at the time of the 1860 census, Frances is residing with Job & Mary Ross and their family in the City of Peoria, near her mother and older sister, Amelia (Beebe) Cooper; A Frances A. Beebe was married to Lawrence Kenyon on April 3, 1852 in Peoria County. This believed to be the correct Frances Beebe.

Charles Beebe very likely died in the 1840's in Peoria County, Illinois. It is not known where his mortal remains were laid. At the time of the 1850 census of Peoria County, Lucy (Hamlin) Beebe is found, probably widowed, residing with her daughter and son-in-law, Alex & Amelia Cooper in the City of Peoria;

On April 28, 1870, the Dixon newspaper published a notice about the passing of Lucy Beebe. Though a copy of this article has not been seen, Lucy must have passed away just before this article was published. No tombstone as been located for her, but, her mortal remains MAY very well lie in the Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon, Illinois in what is today an UNMARKED grave.
