Alexander married Louise Pelton on June 10, 1967. He worked in Civil Service as a computer engineer and project manager for Dam Neck FCTC for 35+ years until his retirement. He was a member of Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church. An avid lover of nature and sailing out on the Chesapeake Bay, he was known for his kind heart, friendship, delicious slurpee making, and ability to enjoy the moment. He lived his life grounded in his marriage, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Louise; 5 children, Alexander McNeill III (Rudelle) of Mechanicsville, VA, Douglas McNeill of Durham, NC, Rebecca (McNeill) Puckett (John) of Ashburn, VA, Laura McNeill (Scott Hasse) of Madison, WI, and Kathryn (McNeill) DeChaine (Mike) of Prosper, TX; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandsons; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Bea Porter, and sister, Patsy Bryan.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home on N. Witchduck. A Memorial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church with Reverend Richard Goodman officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the Old Bluff Cemetery in Wade, NC with close family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church
