The Huntsville Times, Sunday, December 16, 1956: Fayetteville, Tenn. Funeral service for John Newton Brown, 65, rural mail carrier of nearby Flintville, who died Wednesday afternoon, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Flintville Baptist Church. The Rev. Howard McGee officiated. Burial was in Flintville cemetery, with Gallant Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Brown died of a heart attack at his home. He was a native of Moore County, and a veteran of World War I. His parents were the late Harvey Brown and Mrs. Maude Copeland Brown. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Jessie Simpson Brown; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Brown Holloway, Columbia; Capt. Faunetta Brown, U.S. Air Force, in Fayetteville on leave; four sons, Hugh Brown, U.S. Navy, San Diego, Calif.; Nelson Brown, Nashville; Sgt. Billy Joe Brown, U.S. Army, Fort Bragg, N. C., and Charles Brown, Flintville; also four grandchildren.
