Burial account from three of his children in 1974:

Lucille: I remember that I was there when Papa was buried; in a black casket, the casket was on a wagon pulled up a hill by mules to a little cemetery, just very primitive. He was buried among some trees and we didn't even have a stone for him. I scratched the bark off of a tree and marked the date on it. The cemetery was at the top of a hill near Coushatta, Louisiana. And it was always Mary's wish to go back and find the grave and bring him to Kansas where Mama is buried.

Frances: I didn't get to go to the cemetery because there wasn't room for me in the wagon. This is the same cemetery where they buried the baby boy born before me. I thought he was buried in the church cemetery in *[Crichton], Louisiana. I thought Lorenz died in *[Crichton], Louisiana.

Marie: I always wanted to go back to Louisiana and find Papa's grave and put a marker on it, but never did. When Mama died, she was buried in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas where Pete bought two graves, expecting to bring Papa's body to Kansas, but it was never done.
