Phillip L. Emery
Phillip L. Emery, 75, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Whiteland.
He was born March 30, 1927, in Green County. His parents were Harve and Lucy Rosanna (Ferguson) Emery. He married Juanita (Chattin) Emery. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Steve Emery of New Whiteland; two sisters, Coral Drury of Plainfield and Martha Tackett of Martinsville; a brother, Paul Emery of Bloomfield; and a granddaughter.
He was employed by Harry A. Sharp as a mechanic for 17 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of New Whiteland Christian Church, Whiteland Veterans of Foreign Wars 6978, Greenwood American Legion 252 and camping organizations in Indiana and Kentucky. He enjoyed camping and traveling. He was an active member of the color guard burial rites team.
The Rev. James Ray will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Monday at Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Whiteland Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6978.
