MARION - Mrs. Mattie Larrimore Demery, 63 years old, died Wednesday night at 10 o'clock at the McLeod Infirmary in Florence, following an illness of three weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Ariel Baptist Church, conducted byt the Rev. J. A. Faile. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Surviving are one son, Ben Demery of Centenary; five brothers, Marvin Larrimore of Mullins, Shep Larrimore of Rains, James Larrimore of Brittons Neck, Parker Larrimore of Brittons Neck and Seafus Larrimore of Marion; one sister, Mrs. Allard Hucks of Brittons Neck; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Mattie's stone and death certificate list Lex and Lizzie Demery as her parents. The 1900 census shows Mattie and Mollie Dimery as boarders in the household of (Oliver) Chesley Larrimore and Lizzie Larrimore, the Larrimore children on the census are the same as the ones listed as Mattie's siblings in her obituary. Marvin Lee Larrimore's death certificate, a son of Chesley and Lizzie, shows his mothers maiden name as Demery, father as Chester rather than Chesley.

As for Mattie's father Lex, I've found there was a James Lex Dimery, son of David and Eliza Jane Cooper Dimery. Lex likely died before 1890 since Lizzie's first Larrimore child was born in May 1891. The many different ways that the Demery and Larrimore name are spelled makes it more difficult to pin down.
