Mrs. Frances Storey Irwin, of Darien, died Saturday, January 12, at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Irwin was born January 22, 1913, in Hoschton, Georgia. She moved to Athens at an early age and later to Chamblee. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and was a teacher for a number of years, having taught in the Fritz Orr School in Atlanta and the Ashford Park School in Chamblee. When she retired in 1975, she moved to Darien and has lived there since then. She was a devout member of the Darien United Methodist Church and St. Andrew's Parish Chapter of the DAR. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed traveling.

Mrs. Irwin was preceded in death by her husband, David Irwin; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Storey; two sisters and a brother.

She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Jean Dean of Quitman and two nephews, James M. Storey,III of Chattanooga, and Stephen Storey of Richmond, Virginia. She is also survived by a very dear friend, Mrs. Alice Stebbins of Darien. She leaves a number of friends in Darien and McIntosh who loved her very much.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, January 15, at the Darien United Methodist Church at 11o'clock am. with her pastor, the Rev. Ronald Register officiating. Burial was on Wednesday, January 16, at the Hoschton Methodist Church Cemetery at 1o'clock pm. Pallbearers were Ryan Garner, Ad Poppell, Bobby Todd, Maurice Mixson, Kenneth Gale, and Kenneth Helm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor to the Darien United Methodist Church Building Fund Vernon Square, PO Box 681, Darien,GA 31305 will be appreciated.
