Leonard L. "Len" Lewis is the son of Robert Lewis, Sr. (1790 NC - Abt. Dec 1850 Marshall Co., AL) and Sarah (Cagle) Lewis (1790 NC - Abt. Dec 1850 Marshall Co., AL). He was the brother of:

(1.) John Lewis (1816 NC - Aft. 1880 TN)
(2.) Henry Lewis (1820-Bet. 1869-1870AL)
(3.) Charles L. Lewis (1823-1888)
(4.) Jacob Nathan Lewis (1826-aft. 1880)
(5.) Robert Lewis, Jr. (Nov 26, 1828TN - 1868AL)
(6.) Margaret Lewis (1832TN-1871AL)
(7.) Katherine Lewis Whitenberg(1834TN-1914TX)

Leonard L. "Len" Lewis grew up on "Lewis Mountain" in Marshall Co., AL. His parents had settled on the mountain and later, Leonard applied and received many land grants from the Federal Government, all of them on this mountain and at one time, the Lewis Family owned the entire mountain, encompassing three thousand acres.

Leonard continued raising fruit, making brandy for the government and was also into timber and crop farming.

Leonard L. "Len" Lewis married first to Mary Adaline Thompson on Dec. 27, 1839 in Marshall Co., AL and they had one child together by their marriage:

(1.) Sarah Adaline (Lewis) Fletcher (1841 AL - 1894 Texas), she married Benjamin M. Fletcher on April 25, 1858 in Marshall Co., AL

Leonard L. "Len" Lewis married second to Diannah Patterson on Feb. 10, 1842 in Marshall Co., AL and they had six children together by their marriage.

(1.) John Lewis (1843)

(2.) George William M. Lewis (1846-1911), he married Mary Rollings

(3.) Mary Elizabeth "Eliza" Jane Lewis Parks (Dec. 1847 AL - Bet. 1900-1910 AL), she married Allen F. Parks on Jan. 26, 1869 in Marshall Co. AL.


(4.) Melvina "Vina" "Vine" "Mattie" (Lewis) Lewis Davis Stormes (Sept. 1850 AL - Bet. 1911-1923), she married first to William Edward Lewis on 21-26 June 1870 in Marion County, Alabama, she married second to Timothy Thomas "Tom" Davis on March 06, 1873 in Marshall Co., AL; she married third to Mr. Stormes.

(5.) Margaret Catherine (Lewis) Davis (28 Jan 1853 AL - 16 May 1917 Texas), she married Joseph "Joe" Montgomery Davis on August 17, 1875 in Marshall Co., AL.

(6.) Sarah F. Lewis (1857 AL), she died, a young girl, before 1870 in Marshall County, Alabama.

Leonard L. "Len" Lewis married third to Rachel Whitenburg on April 01, 1877 in Coryell Co., TX and they did not have any children together by their marriage. Rachel did have children of her own by other marriages when she and Leonard married.

When Leonard L. "Len" Lewis passed away, he was buried by his second wife, Diannah Patterson Lewis, at Taylor Cemetery.
