World War I Victoria Cross Recipient. Born at No. 2 Chapel Terrace, Westfield, Dunleys Hill, North Warnborough, Hook, Hampshire, England, he served as a Chaplain in the British Army. In actions at Sanna-i-Yat, Mesopotamia, on April 9, 1916, under heavy rifle and machine gun fire, Chaplain Addison carried a wounded man to the cover of a trench. He also assisted several others to the same cover, after binding up their wounds, plus encouraged the stretcher-bearers to go forward under heavy fire and collect the wounded. For prestigious gallantry, he was awarded the Victoria Cross September 26, 1916. After the war he continued as a Senior Chaplain in the Army until 1938, when became a parish priest in Norfolk, England. With the outbreak of World War II, he returned to the Army and again served as Senior Chaplain to the British Forces. He died at age 78 in East Sussex, England.
