Mr. Everett was a graduate of Lehigh University.
He started at Woodie's in 1934 as a buyer. During World War II, he served in the Navy in the Pacific.
He was on the board of directors of the Washington Metropolitan YMCA from 1945 to 1964 and was on the board of trustees at Calvary Baptist Church in Washington. He also was a member of the Washington Board of Trade.
After retiring, he alternated between homes in Round Hill and Lakewood.
His hobbies included farming and golfing.
His wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Everett, died in 1999.
Survivors include a son, William J., of Waynesville, N.C.; two daughters, Elizabeth Reiter of Ocala, Fla., and Lois Brown of Bethesda; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

LONGWOOD -- William W. Everett Jr., 90, a diary farmer, died Monday, May 14, 2001.
A native of Washington, D.C., he moved to Longwood in 1964. Mr. Everett was a member of First Presbyterian Church, YMCA board of directors, the Lions Club, the Masons, and Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, William J. Everett , Waynesville, N.C.; daughters, Lois Brown, Bethesda, Md., and Elizabeth Reiter, Ocala; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
