Ed was born William Edward Bostick. He was the only son of Si and Pearl Bostick.
In 1920 at age 9 he went to Arizona to help out at the farm of his Aunt Delie. He was also helping out on his step fathers farm. He was old enough to drive the tractor and work the fields.
He married Maud Drew in November of 1929. They had three girls. During the dust bowl the family abandoned the farm in Texas and moved to Arizona. In 1939 they moved to Oregon and grew potatoes in the rich volcanic soil. They grew them and sold them to the government during WWII.
Many times the family would cook dinner for the soldiers who would set up camps along their farm.
When they decided to move back to Texas in 1946 they had to get permission to use their gas rations to travel that distance. Ed bought two 100 gallon gas drums and stored them in the back of the truck to make the move.
After arriving in Texas and his wife Maude ran a diner and Ed ran the Humble gas station in Clariette. Ed did any job available to him to earn money to support his family. They were constantly on the move and did not stay in any location for a long period of time.
They moved to Oklahoma in 1953 then to California in 1955 and back to Texas by 1974. They lived in their home in Comanche, Texas for twelve years which was the longest the ever stayed in one location.
When Ed's health started to decline, the family decided it was best for him to move down to Houston to be near his granddaughter to care for him. They moved him into a nursing home in League City.
