Inventor. He gained his extensive explosives knowledge during the Civil War as an officer in the 2nd New York Volunteer Heavy Artillery section and as a member of General Nelson A. Miles staff. He invented the ramrod bayonet and the pneumatic dynamite torpedo gun, as well as devising new types of telescopic artillery sights and intrenching tools. (bio by: Mount Hope NY)
