US Congressman. Served in the United States Navy during World War II. Elected to represent California's 34th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1963 to 1974. Also served as a Member of the California State Assembly from 1956 to 1962, and Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from California in 1960. While he was with the Assembly he was very intstrumental with helping to establish the University of California in Irvine, and the California State University in Fullerton. In the 1970s he received payments of $200,000 from a Korean businesman named Tongsun Park. The incident became known as 'Koreagate' an influence buying scandal which netted Hanna a 6-30 month jail sentance, but he only served one year after pleading guilty. (bio by: K)

I spent some time at the country club with you in not so happy circumstances. You were a true gentleman of high character. I enjoyed the many walks with you. Your portrayal of Santa Claus was a gift to many children. Rest in peace my friend.|
