Section S1
Lot No. 95
Grave No. 4
(might also be) Range "A"
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted at the overstated age of nineteen and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg March 10, 1865, as a private with the 101st Pennsylvania Infantry in the second organization of Co. B. He honorably discharged with his company June 25, 1865.
He married Ida Catherine Goodyear October 22, 1874 at Harrisburg in Dauphin county, Pennsylvania. Cause of his death is listed as "chronic Bright's disease."
Formerly, I had Columbus Taylor (90746327) connected as his father, but I'm not sure that's the case. On the 1850 census in Menallen, Adams, Pennsylvania, Columbus is listed with Belinda and a son, Zacheriah. But Samuel Z. Taylor is already accounted for in Liverpool, Perry, Pennsylvania as Samuel Z.T. Miller living with his grandparents, mother, and her siblings. In 1860, he still with his grandparents but now is simply listed as Samuel Taylor. If Columbus was his father, it's very unlikely Samuel would be living with him and a stepmother rather than his own mother, particularly if he was born out of wedlock which seems rather likely.
