Mrs. Phebe A. Beatham

The death of Mrs. Phebe A. Beatham, 84, occurred Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wallace E. Bryant, in North Jay, after a long period of failing health. Mrs. Beatham was born in Macwahoc, where she lived until her marriage in 1879 to the late Orrin Beatham, after which she lived in Kingman until moving to North Jay ten years ago. Mrs. Beatham is survived by three sonsand two daughters, Erman L. Beatham of Malden, Mass., Leroy K. Beatham of Brewer, Clarence C. Beatham of Bangor, Mrs. Mildred B. MacKenzie of Lincoln, and Mrs. Nettie C. Bryant of North Jay; 19 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the Bryant residence in North Jay, Tuesday afternoon.

North Jay, June 19 - Funeral services for Mrs. Phebe Kimball Beatham were held Tuesday from the home of Mr.a nd Mrs. Wallace Bryant. The Rev. B. F. Wentworth of the North Jay Methodist Church officiated. Bearers were the three sons, and the son-in-law, Mr. Bryant. Burial was in North Jay Cemetery. Phebe Beatham was born July 11, 1854, in MacWahoc, Me., the daughter of Charles and Susan Leavitt Kimball. She was one of 13 children of whom only a brother, Everett Kimball, of Marion, Wis., survive. Her married life was spent in Kingman, where her husband was a Penobscot deputy sheriff for many years. Upon his retirement 10 years ago, the couple came to North Jay to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Wallace Bryant, and Mr. Bryant. Mr. Beatham died a few years ago. Survivors include the brother mentioned; two daughters, Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Mildred McKenzie, of Lincoln; three sons, E. L. Beatham of Malden, Mass., L. K. Beatham of Brewer, C. C. Beatham of, Bangor. There are 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
