Lanark, Ill., Jan. 3 — Funeral services for Isaac N. Downs, 70, who died Saturday night in the state hospital at East Moline, were held from the Christian funeral home Tuesday afternoon in Mt. Carroll. The Rev. J. H. Felterolf, of Mt. Carroll, officiated at the services. Mm. Jessie Schriener and Mrs. B. L. Smith, of Mt. Carroll, sang two selections. Pallbearers were George Stober, John Arb, Arthur Hoover, William Bickelhaupt, William Wires, and Harry Altensey of Mt. Carroll. Burial was made in the Mt. Carroll cemetery.
Isaac N. Downs, son of James and Leah Downs, was born in Mt. Carroll, April 27, 1863. He married Susan Blessing, of Mt. Carroll, and she died twenty-five years ago. One son, Frank B., was born to the union. Mr. Downs married Jennie King and she passed away in May of 1928. On Jan. 8, 1930, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Cora Foley, of Savanna.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cora Downs, of Savanna; one son, F. B. Downs, of Lanark; two sisters, Miss Elizabeth Downs, of Mt. Carroll, and Mrs. Ida Rupright, of Chicago; three brothers, Frank and Joseph, of Chicago, and William, of Mt. Carroll. Two brothers, Edward and Luther, and two sisters, Florence and Lucretia, preceded him in death.
