Funeral Mass for Frank Eugene Robinson, 83, Lawton, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Joseph R. Ross, Pastor officiating.
Mr. Robinson passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, in a Lawton hospital.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
He was born May 1, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles A. and Mabel B. (Williams) Robinson. He married Peggy Ellain Whitesides on June 4, 1952 at West Point, New York, and she preceded him in death on June 16, 1996. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery until his retirement with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel at Fort Sill in 1973. He was a veteran of both Korea and Vietnam and received numerous awards for his service.
Following his retirement he obtained his masters degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1974. He then worked for the City of Lawton Planning Department for 13 years.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was Chair of the Parish Council, the School Advisory Council as well as of the St. Vincent de Paul chapter. Additionally he was a knight in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He served as a volunteer with the Comanche County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, receiving the Distinguished Service Award from the ADA for chairing the Walkathon (America's Walk for Diabetes) from 1993-1998 as well as for his Chapter Leadership from 1991-1998 and also received further recognition for association activities. He was a member of the Lawton-Ft. Sill Stamp Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Lindley Robinson.
