Cam Hobbs was the son of David Hobbs and Charlotte Payne and was raised by his sister Matilda, after their mother's death. After the Civil War Cam went to Smith Co., Kansas for the government land. His cousin, William F. Hobbs was in Smith County. In 1874 Cam married William Hobbs' daughter Kate. They had two sons and soon after the birth of the youngest child, Cam died. He is on the 1880 census, so feel his death date is actually 1880 or 1881.

Alexander C. Hobbs was in the 50th Ill Inf. Kate filed for the pension for her minor children in Mar 1882.
