Thomas was married to Beryl Moody on March 18, 1900 at Clay County, Tennessee.

The following information was found by Brenda Cowan Francis in her research. It was originally published in the Jackson Sentinel on August 13, 1915 and transcribed by Shelta R. McCarter Shrum in her book titled "Bullets, Fire, Moonshine and The Bible: Life in Jackson County, Tennessee, Ridge Runner Publications, 2006, Vol. 3, pp. 203-204. Since it was a long article, I have compiled it into a short paragraph. R.J.

Thomas Green Ryman, Jr. was shot and killed while standing on a steamboat deck, going down the Cumberland River. He was shot by Wilson G. Montgomery who was angry because he had brought his wife and two lady friends on board, thinking they had free fare because Montgomery's father-in-law owned part interest in the boat. Ryman said he was to be charged fare. Montgomery shot Ryman seven times., killing him. Montgomery was 29 years old, married with one child.
