Born Emma Luella, to parents Robert and Caroline Brenner Bloom, she preferred the use of the name Ella. She married James H. Daugherty, son of Adam and Martha J. Coons Daugherty, on April 9, 1887 in Powers Station, Indiana. They were the parents of Elva F. and Mayme Daugherty.

Ella married Samuel F. Shaver, son of Ephraim and Sarah Funkhouser Shaver, on December 10, 1893 in Jay County. Samuel and Ella were the parents of Olive, Harold, Letha America, Pauline and Stella Shaver.

•Obituary-Mrs. Emma Luela [sic Luella] Shaver, 88, widow of Samuel F. Shaver, 1323 W. Memorial Dr., died Sunday at her home. Although she was in failing health, her death was unexpected. A native of Powers Station, Jay County, Mrs. Shaver came to Muncie in 1910. She was a member of the Christian church.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Mayme Chilton and Mrs. Letha Meeks, Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Olive Miller of Richmond, Mrs. Pauline White, of Muncie and Mrs. Stella Skiff of Yorktown; a son, Harold, of Richmond; eight grandchildren and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Meeks Mortuary. Rev. Howard Fox will officiate, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Maxwell.
