Richard Fisher, was active in Gloversville civic affairs. Richard C. Fisher, 87, of Gloversville, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a short illiness.

Mr. Fisher was born in Gloversville and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1932. He attended the former Gloversville Business School.

He was clerk at the Gloversville Water Works for more than 40 years. He also worked part-time at Dunday’s Clothiers for more than 20 years.

Mr. Fisher was a member of the former First United Methodist Church of Gloversville and served on its administrative board. He had been a member of Fremont Street United Methodist Church since 1999.

He was a director of the Gloversville YMCA and a former board member of the Eccentric Club.

He was a former member of the board of trustees of the Gloversville Free Library, a board member of the former Automobile Club of Fulton County and a former director of the Sir William Johnson Boy Scout Council.

He dined with the Lunch Bunch at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Oaksford Fisher, whom he married Apr 8, 1939; two sons, David R. Fisher of Gloversville and Edwin W. Fisher of Columbia, SC; brother, Gerald S. Fisher of Vero Beach, Fl; and four granddaughters.

A service will be held at 11am Thursday at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Calling hours are 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral Caution-home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
